USA (Parliament Politics Magazine) – Authorities found the body of a missing Alabama child miles from his home, with his dog discovered nearby, bringing a tragic end to the search.
According to WVTM-13, Walker County Sheriff Nick Smith announced the death of 4-year-old Jonathan Everett Boley during a press conference on Friday, January 2. On the morning of New Year’s Eve, the child vanished from his father Jameson Kyle Boley’s house near a remote highway in Jasper, Alabama, along with his dog.
“I’m here to announce that we have located Johnathan, and Johnathan is deceased,”
Smith told reporters.
According to an earlier advisory from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Jonathan was last seen on Wednesday, December 31, about 11:30 a.m. local time, near the 7000 block of Highway 195 in Jasper with the family’s black Labrador retriever, Buck, and his 6-year-old brother.
According to Smith, the siblings were visiting as part of their annual visitation allotment of five days.
Smith stated on Friday that officials thought Jonathan had strayed from his house while pursuing Buck.
About two miles from his father’s house, Jonathan’s body was discovered.
“John-John and Buck being together, if he’s following Buck, then there’s no telling how far they could have traveled,”
Smith said, referring to Jonathan.
“Like I said, if you just look at stories across the state and the nation where children wonder off, especially with a companion, you know, canines they wonder off two, three miles, four miles.”
Buck was discovered alive close to the 4-year-old’s corpse. There was no information on Jonathan’s older sibling from WVTM-13.
The Walker County Sheriff’s Office was not immediately available for comment.
Jameson was arrested on an explosives-related charge, King informed WBRC on Thursday. According to NBC News, Smith informed reporters that the accusation had “nothing to do” with the hunt for Jonathan.
According to court documents filed in Walker County on Friday, the father was accused of two charges of chemical endangerment of a child and unlawful fabrication of a destructive weapon.
Although no live explosives were discovered outside the home, Smith informed WBRC that there was “evidence that they have had some type of bomb type materials and that have exploded in the [SIC] on the property.”
According to WVTM-13, Jameson was in the U.S. Army from March 2003 to November 2006. His discharge was not explained to the public. According to the TV station, Jameson has been assisting them, according to the sheriff.
Jonathan’s cause of death is still unknown.
Who is being investigated in connection with the child’s death?
Jameson Kyle Boley, the child’s father, is the primary person of interest in the disappearance into 4- year-old Johnathan Everett Boley’s death, though no homicide charges have been filed as of January 3, 2026.
Walker County Sheriff Nick Smith stated Boley is cooperating but faces unconnected felony charges for unlawful explosive device manufacturing and chemical child endangerment after lemon team neutralization of bias set up at his Manchester property; the snares delayed full scene processing.
Authorities describe Johnathan’s death as” woeful” with no verified cause pending necropsy; Boley hosted Johnathan during court- approved visit from his Florida mama on New Year’s Eve when he dissolved around 11:30 a.m., discovered two long hauls down with canine Buck hard. No other suspects named intimately amid ongoing examinations.
