The Culture, Health and Wellbeing Alliance has unveiled an important collaboration for Black History Month, focused on enriching cultural engagement within communities. This initiative offers individuals the chance to explore and celebrate the rich history and contributions of Black culture through a variety of events and activities.
In tandem, CUH Arts celebrated the 10th anniversary of its Dance for Health program at Addenbrooke’s Hospital. This milestone showcases the therapeutic benefits of creative engagement in healthcare, demonstrating how dance can enhance both physical and mental well-being. As one of the UK’s longest-running dance initiatives, the program highlights the significance of movement and artistic expression in promoting health among patients and staff.
The anniversary was marked by the exhibition “Conversations in Movement,” featuring artists Lena Yokoyama and Filipa Peirera-Stubbs. This exhibition not only celebrates a decade of Dance for Health but also reflects on the profound impact of creative practices in medical environments.
Both initiatives emphasize the crucial role of culture in fostering health and community well-being, encouraging wider participation during this culturally significant month.
