Havering (Parliament Politics Magazine) – Havering police launch CCTV appeal to identify bag thief who attempted to rob a Underground passenger, seeking public’s help in solving the case.
At roughly 9 p.m. on Tuesday, September 19, the victim was using her Oyster card to top it off at Havering‘s Elm Park station when a man came up behind her.
After grabbing her handbag, he tried to flee, but the woman managed to escape his hands. More than a month later, the man in question has still not been taken into custody.
The public is now being asked for backing by British Transport Police( BTP) investigators. In connection with this, the police have made available videotape of a man they want to talk to.
The man in the picture has a short black beard and spectacles. Wearing a blue baseball hat and a black jacket, he looks to be in his early twenties.
Days after MyLondon revealed a bag snatching in Croydon, the appeal was made. The offender struck at the George Street tram stop, pulling a woman to the ground as he escaped.
Have there been similar bag theft attempts on London Underground?
There have been multiple bag theft attempts and pickpocketing incidents in the London Underground. Reports of theft, including bag thefts, have increased dramatically in recent times. Crucial locales include high- business routes similar as the Piccadilly, Central, Northern, and Jubilee lines, and busy stations analogous to Leicester Square, Oxford Circus, and King’s Cross St Pancras.
Pickpocketing is especially current with thousands of incidents reported each time, and multitudes of stealers are present in gangs.
The authorities, similar to the British Transport Police and Transport for London, are acting to offset this trend, promoting watchfulness and reporting by passengers to check crime and make the network safer.
