Croydon (Parliament Politics Magazine) – Croydon’s 10 High Street Post Office will relocate to TGJones, the former WHSmith site, as part of a move to rebrand the location as the new Croydon Post Office.

TGJones, a retail franchise partner, will oversee the branch.

The Post Office will run a completely franchised network under this concept; more than 99% of the Post Office network in the UK has already embraced this approach.

This modification is a part of a larger strategy to guarantee the sustainability of post offices in local communities.

After splitting from WHSmith in June, TGJones now runs 464 locations throughout the UK, including 179 post offices.

The store, which is near George Street Station, still sells newsagents, books, stationery, games and toys, and CDs and DVDs.

The Post Office will be open 57 hours a week, six more hours than it is now, Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Customers should find the relocation more convenient as the Post Office will be open all day on Sunday.

Three open-plan serving positions will be available at the Croydon Post Office, and two self-service kiosks will be added later.

Two more makeshift serving counters will be available in the interim.

There are designated disability parking spaces in both the Whitgift and Centrale multi-story parking lots in the shopping center.

There is also public transportation.

There will be a chance for current Post Office workers to move to the new location.

George Street Station is also in close proximity to the Whitgift Centre location.

The new site will offer the same selection of Post Office services. A comment procedure regarding the proposed move will conclude on September 17.

Using the branch code 009013, customers can express their opinions online at postofficeviews.co.uk during the consultation. This action is a component of the Post Office’s broader strategy to guarantee service delivery and long-term sustainability in communities throughout the United Kingdom.

The success of this model in most of the Post Office network provides the reason for the decision to operate on a franchise basis.

The change in management and location is expected to benefit the Croydon community by providing expanded service hours and a more accessible location.

The business still sells books, stationery, games & toys, CDs and DVDs, and newsagents.

After splitting from WHSmith in June, TGJones currently runs 464 stores throughout the UK on high streets, in malls, and in retail parks.

Additionally, the business oversees 179 post offices.

At the new location, the Post Office will still offer the same selection of services.

How will the new location improve accessibility and convenience for customers?

A larger, more spacious retail environment with better layouts for easier navigation.

Enhanced accessibility features such as step-free access, wider entrances, and aisles to accommodate wheelchairs and mobility aids.

Modern facilities aimed at complying with accessibility standards and providing a more comfortable experience for all customers.

Post Office branches generally follow strict accessibility policies and design guidelines to support users with disabilities, including aids for visual, hearing, and mobility impairments.
