Ealing (Parliament Politics Magazine) – William Perkin High School teacher in Ealing has been banned after a conduct panel found he made inappropriate comments and urged pupils to stay silent.

After reviewing Abu Tanvir’s case, a tutoring Regulation Agency (TRA) professional conduct panel upheld several allegations against him, chancing that his conduct amounted to inferior professional behaviour and were likely to damage the character of the tutoring profession.

The panel was informed that in February 2023, a student complained via email regarding remarks made during class. The case was referred to the TRA in May 2023 after Mr. Tanvir was suspended on February 7, 2023.

On November 17, 2025, the hearing was conducted virtually. The panel observed that Mr. Tanvir contested the other accusations, but he did not show up and was not represented.

One of the accusations that was proven was that Mr. Tanvir brought up a TikTok video in class where, according to multiple student testimonies that were approved by the panel, a woman got sick after being “fingered” with filthy fingernails. The panel determined that the comment constituted a major violation of professional limits because it went beyond what was required for teaching, characterizing it as gratuitous and overly familiar.

The panel also discovered that he mentioned a particular student’s weight and/or breasts when talking about the biological distinctions between males and women. It came to the conclusion that calling attention to a student’s body in front of their peers was improper and involved a certain danger of humiliation or mockery.

The panel also concluded that Mr. Tanvir made remarks, such as asking students to “fight for him,” that students could have fairly construed as a request not to discuss what he had said in class. It said that this involved dishonesty and a lack of integrity and was a misuse of his position.

Other accusations, such as that he instructed students to make Tinder accounts or look into “tea-bagging,” were either refuted or not proven. The panel also came to the conclusion that there was no sexual motivation behind the verified remarks.

A prohibition order with a two-year review period was suggested by the panel. Citing the gravity of the findings, Mark Cavey, a decision-maker working on behalf of the secretary of state for education, concurred, stating that a ban was reasonable and in the public interest.

Although Mr. Tanvir can request that the decision be reviewed after the minimum term specified in the order, the order prohibits him from teaching in schools indefinitely. Additionally, he is entitled to file an appeal with the High Court within 28 days of receiving notice of the restriction order (November 20, 2025).

What disciplinary measures did the Twyford Trust take in response?

Twyford Trust, which operates William Perkin High School, followed its formal correctional procedure by launching an internal disquisition into the schoolteacher’s conduct upon entering complaints of sexually unequivocal commentary and prompting pupils to stay silent, leading to referral to the Teaching Regulation Agency (TRA) for a professional conduct panel hail.

The TRA panel set up the schoolteacher’s conduct unskillful and a securing breach, performing in a continuance prohibition from tutoring; Twyford Trust cooperated completely, suspending the schoolteacher pending disquisition per policy, and enforced enhanced staff training on behaviour norms to help rush.

Trust guidelines escalate serious misconduct( e.g., unhappy commentary, pitfalls to silence pupils) via verbal warnings, detentions, internal suspense, and endless rejection for scholars but for staff, formal sounds lead to redundancy and TRA reporting; records are maintained in SIMS for responsibility.
