London (Parliament Politics Magazine) – Five people were admitted to hospital after a massive fire at a Holloway takeaway, where 100 firefighters battled the blaze for four hours, impacting nearby flats.

More than 100 firefighters took over four hours bringing the blaze under control which broke out at 3:45 GMT on Thursday on Seven Sisters Road in Holloway.

According to the London Fire Bridge, the ground floor restaurant was destroyed, the roof collapsed, and two flats on the first and second floors were damaged.

Five individuals were given treatment for smoke inhalation at the scene and then taken to the hospital.

The reason for the fire is still unclear, and the fire bridge has warned people to stay away from the area.

The London Fire Brigade posted on X, providing an update on the situation at the incident site. They reported that fifteen fire engines and around 100 firefighters are tackling a blaze on Seven Sisters Road in Holloway.

The brigade also appealed to the public to avoid the area.

At the scene of the incident, Mike Watts, station commander at the London Fire Brigade stated, “The fire is producing a lot of smoke in the vicinity and local residents are advised to keep their windows and doors closed while we work to bring the fire under control.”

He added, “There are road closures in place and we urge people to avoid the area, particularly as we head into rush hour, due to congestion in the area.”

The first 19 calls were received at 3:45 am, with control officers and crews from Holloway, Kentish Town, Islington, Euston, and nearby stations arriving at the scene.

A London Ambulance Service spokesman said, “We were called at 3:51 am today (Thursday) to reports of a fire on Seven Sisters Road.”

“We sent a number of resources to the scene including ambulance crews, a paramedic in a fast response car, an incident response officer, an advanced paramedic and members of our Hazardous Area Response Team,” adding “We treated five people at the scene and conveyed them to hospital.”

The LFB and the Metropolitan Police are investigating the reason for the fire.

In another tragic incident, 70 firefighters evacuated residents after a fire at a residential building in West Hampstead.

The London Fire Brigade reported that a section of the roof of a house in Lyncroft Gardens caught fire.

But no injuries have been confirmed yet.
