Tower Hamlets (Parliament Politics Magazine) – Four people were arrested at the Tower of London in Tower Hamlets after an incident, Metropolitan Police confirmed, as inquiries into disturbance continue.

Custard and apple crumbles were hurled at a Crown Jewels display case by protesters. Just before 10:00 GMT on Saturday, four demonstrators defaced the Imperial State Crown case before two of them fled the area, prompting the police to be called. 

Four persons were detained after being arrested on suspicion of felonious damage in Tower townlets, according to a statement from the Met. While the police disquisition is ongoing, the Tower’s Jewel House has been closed to the public, according to the force. 

The act was attributed to Take Back Power, a new nonviolent civil-resistance organization. The group claimed that the purpose of the action was to demand that the UK government create a

“House of the People,”

a permanent assembly of citizens with the authority to

“tax extreme wealth and fix Britain.”

The Met Police said:

“Officers worked closely with City of London Police and security officers and four people have been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage. They have taken into custody.The Jewel House has been closed to the public while the police investigation continues.”
