Havering (Parliament Politics Magazine) – Havering Council’s Deputy Leader Gillian Ford announces updates on Havering Live Well, a new initiative focused on enhancing residents’ health and wellbeing.

“We all need help at some point in our lives, and our health and wellbeing are no exceptions,”

Said Councillor Ford, Co-Chair of the Havering Place Based Partnership and Chair of Havering’s Health and Wellbeing Board.

I’m delighted to share details about the amazing partnership work that is taking place.“

The recently released Havering Live Well brochure, which is currently accessible online, in libraries, and in general practitioner offices, is an essential part of this campaign. It offers information about organizations that can help in keeping one’s body, mind, finances, and home healthy.

The Live Well Joy App, which provides access to more than 600 organizations along with referral and contact information, has also been released. Although it is now only accessible to experts, the general public will soon have access to it.

Additionally, a website called Live Well is being developed with the goal of serving as a central repository for information and guidance on wellbeing.

What are the key features of Havering’s live well initiative?

The program acknowledges the serious health issues that different Havering communities face and seeks to offer focused assistance to enhance both mental and physical health.

The council’s “Live Well” campaign is associated with its cultural policy, which highlights the relationship between culture and health. By incorporating cultural activities into public health programs, this strategy seeks to enhance community involvement and wellbeing.

By encouraging locals to take part in health-related events and initiatives, the initiative promotes a sense of belonging and shared accountability for health results.

Havering intends to create a digital site as part of the program that will offer materials about local events, cultural activities, and well-being. Residents’ access to information will be improved via this platform, particularly for those who might be isolated or have limited mobility.

By promoting social justice and equity in health care and making sure that all locals have access to the resources they need, the “Live Well” campaign seeks to empower marginalized communities.

The program aims to address structural disparities that damage citizens’ health in the long run, in addition to having an immediate impact.

What specific activities will be included in this initiative?

Havering Council’s “Live Well” campaign will include a range of initiatives aimed at promoting the health and wellbeing of locals.

Resources and information to support balanced diets, such as classes on food preparation and meal planning.

Arranged fitness courses, exercise sessions, and neighborhood sporting activities to motivate locals to be physically active on a daily basis.
