Havering (Parliament Politics Magazine) – Havering Police launched community youth events on Monday, February 17, featuring football and basketball to engage local youth and promote positive activities.
At Harold Hill’s Central Park, about 100 kids joined officers for the inaugural United in Football and Basketball session. Children came eagerly to take part in all of the day’s activities despite the cold and icy start to the day.
Why are these types of events planned by Havering police?
Havering Officers plan these activities during school breaks to help the young people in our community and give them something enjoyable to engage in.
The following event is scheduled on Wednesday, February 19, at Cottons Park. No reservations are required.
Organiser of these events, Chief Inspector Charlie Routley, said:
“It was a great turnout today to kick off our February half term sessions. Thank you to all those parents/carers who braved the cold on the sidelines. The kids all had a brilliant time
Following on from the success we saw last year, Havering Council has secured funding via Sports England to allow sessions to run every school holiday throughout 2025.
Every session is free of charge, so make sure you come down and join in the fun.”
