Pandora is a Danish jewellery manufacturer with nearly 130 stores in the UK. All jewellery needs to be stored and cleaned in a specific way, and Pandora bracelets are no different. Express.co.uk reveals how to clean a Pandora bracelet, according to the staff at Pandora.
To look after any jewellery, you need to wear, clean and store the piece properly to ensure it stays looking good as new.
Pandora jewellery is just like any other, but the website details specific care, cleaning, and storage instructions.
The site recommends removing all Pandora jewellery before going to bed or participating in âphysical activityâ.
It also states exposure to âcertain harsh chemicals or environmentsâ will damage your jewellery.
This includes but isnât limited to sweat, perfume, cleaning agents, chlorine, saltwater, and silver polish.
Youâll need to remove the jewellery before showering, working out, doing cleaning tasks and swimming in the pool or sea.
You should store your jewellery âaway from natural sunlight and heatâ, the advice reads.
It should be placed in a tarnish-resistant pouch or in a lined jewellery box and never in the bathroom.
The site adds: âIt can also be stored in a plastic zip lock bag made of Mylar or polyethylene.
âNever use polyvinyl plastic bags, such as trash can liners as they contain sulphur compounds, or rubber containers which will make sterling silver tarnish faster and possibly turn black.â
How to clean a Pandora bracelet
The Pandora site explains exactly how to clean the jewellery – and this applies to all jewellery except the Pandora Rose and Pandora Essence collections.
All you need is a small, clean toothbrush and some washing up liquid.
It says: âPour a small amount of mild soap into lukewarm water and use a small, soft toothbrush to clean your jewellery.
âToothbrushes are ideal for cleaning jewellery with intricate details, which can otherwise be difficult to clean.
âIf the dirt is hard to remove, soak the jewellery in clean water.
âThis particular cleaning method should not be used to clean jewellery with cultured freshwater pearls (see Cultured Freshwater Pearls for more details).â
If you have silver Pandora jewellery, follow this up with a good polish using a silver-polishing cloth.
The site says: âA silver-polishing cloth is a great tool to make your sterling silver jewellery shine again if the pieces have become dull.
âHowever, it will not remove scratches. Silver-polishing cloths may be purchased from PANDORA retailers or your local goldsmith.â
You need to clean any jewellery from Pandoraâs Rose collection – which is made from rose gold-plated metal – in a different way.
You need to be a bit more gentle with these pieces and should not use a toothbrush.
The site explains: âMaintain the beautiful shine and unique finish by polishing Pandora Rose products with a soft cloth.
âDampen the cloth in lukewarm water, adding a small amount of mild soap, and rub gently on jewellery.
âRinse with clean water and pat dry with a soft cloth.
âIf jewellery is particularly dirty, soak for five to 10 minutes. Use of silver polishing liquids, silver dips, ultrasonic cleaning and a tumbler should be avoided.”
Pandora polishing cloths with cleaning compounds are not recommended for Pandora Rose jewellery.
