UK (Parliament Politics Magazine) – Nigel Farage adviser Jack Anderton said Britain should have stayed neutral in WWII, opposed backing Ukraine, and even suggested reclaiming former colonies.

As reported by The Guardian, an adviser associated with Nigel Farage and Reform UK suggested that the UK might have been wiser to avoid involvement in the Second World War.

The ex-manager of Nigel Farage’s TikTok account, Jack Anderton, who also helped Reform UK mayor Luke Campbell, said Britain should not support Ukraine against Russia.

What did Jack Anderton say about Britain’s future and foreign policy?

Jack Anderton, on his blog, said Britain might “regain” former colonies such as Australia, Canada, and South Africa in a meritocratic world.

He recommended the UK adopt El Salvador’s mass incarceration policies under President Bukele, despite criticism over human rights violations.

Anderton, 23, who set up Farage’s TikTok account with 1.3 million followers, has also helped Luke Campbell’s election campaign.

He remains a central figure in Campbell’s team, though the mayor’s attempts to add him to staff were blocked due to rules on political appointees.

On his blog Britain Needs Change, Anderton argued that British foreign policy is self-interested, claiming the Falklands War was the only 20th-century conflict serving UK interests.

The post stated,

“Trillions of pounds of British taxes have been spent in foreign lands in the pursuit of ‘democracy’, ‘human rights’ and ‘doing what is right’. More than a million British lives have been lost since WW1 in wars and battles that have never once been fought by British men, on this island.”

According to him, fighting in the world wars ended Britain’s great power status, saying,

“We impoverished ourselves for decades, we didn’t finish paying the loans off to America until 2006. Our economy stagnated, we lost an empire, and we are pushed around by America. And Germany, a country we beat, has been richer than us since the 1970s.”

Mr Farage’s aide said,

“Alternative history is interesting; if Britain had not fought in WW1 and WW2, it would not have had to rely on America for economic support, and it would have had the independence to act accordingly. Britain could have developed India, Cyprus, Fiji, Malta, Saint Lucia, Seychelles, the Bahamas, Australia, Canada, South Africa, Ireland and New Zealand. In the coming meritocracy, perhaps Britain could regain some of these nations.”

His post also insisted on not backing Ukraine after Russia’s invasion,

“We are sending billions of pounds (that we cannot afford) to prop up a country that we have no allegiance to. Russia is not our enemy; they have not attacked Britain.”

He called for a reform of the Foreign Office, saying all policies must be guided by Britain’s national interests, adding,

“Instead, what we have are people who should be working for the UN or a charity rather than working in the British Foreign Office.”

What did Jack Anderton say about adopting Bukele’s crime policies in the UK?

Writing on crime in 2024, Anderton highlighted Bukele’s crackdown on gangs in El Salvador, noting mass detentions affecting 2% of the population.

He wrote,

“Extraordinary times require extraordinary measures. I’d even argue the measures aren’t that extraordinary and should be in place in times of normalcy.”

Mr Farage’s adviser stated,

“El Salvador is perhaps a lesson for those in Britain who wish to take back control of their country. Power works, and it is all that matters. State power, when used effectively, is basically omnipotent. The meritocracy will be established, criminals and corrupt officials will be jailed, immigration will drop to zero, houses will be built, and our citizens will once again feel proud of the country they call home.”

Campbell’s office referred inquiries to Reform UK, which confirmed Anderton is not employed by the party or the mayor.

What did Nigel Farage say about nominating Reform UK supporters to the Lords?

Nigel Farage called on UK PM Sir Keir Starmer to nominate Reform UK supporters to the House of Lords, saying it would correct a “democratic disparity.”

In a letter to Labour leader Keir Starmer, Nigel Farage said it was unfair that smaller parties have peers in the Lords while Reform UK does not, despite winning more votes last year.

He wrote,

“My party received over 4.1 million votes at the general election in July 2024. We have since won a large number of seats in local government, led in the national opinion polls for many months and won the only byelection of this parliament.

Mr Farage said,

“While Reform UK believes in a reformed House of Lords, the time has come to address the democratic disparity that exists in the upper house.”

He added,

“The Greens, DUP, Plaid Cymru, and UUP have 13 peers between them, but Reform UK has none. Furthermore, the Liberal Democrats now have 76 peers but received 600,000 fewer votes than Reform UK in July last year.”
