Lewis Hamilton is hoping for positive changes in the world once the coronavirus pandemic is over.
Lewis Hamilton has admitted there isn’t a day that goes by where he isn’t missing racing in Formula One, but he is trying to keep a positive outlook on how the world could change after the coronavirus pandemic is over. Had the 2020 F1 season started on schedule, the campaign would already be four races deep with the much-anticipated Dutch Grand Prix next on the schedule.
But the season has since been turned on its head due to the outbreak of COVID-19 around the world, forcing racing to be cancelled for the time being.
F1 are now planning to start the season in Austria in July with hopes of completing between 15-18 races.
Chase Carey, F1 CEO, released a statement where he announced part of their plan was to extend the season into December to allow for as many races as possible.
But for the time being, drivers are staying at home instead of working on their cars and racing against each other on the track.
For Lewis Hamilton, that’s something he hasn’t been used to since he was a kid.
The six-time world champion admits to having a “big void” in his life with no ability to go racing.
However, Lewis Hamilton is keeping a positive outlook on things as he called upon everyone to re-evaluate some of their choices once lockdown measures are lifted.
The British racing driver is outspoken on issues regarding animal welfare and was PETA’s Person of the Year in 2018.
And Lewis Hamilton took to social media to share his message where he hopes for big change across the world.
“I miss racing everyday,” he wrote on Instagram.
“This is the first time since I was 8 that I havent started a season.
“When you live and breath something you love, when its gone theres definitely a big void. But theres always positives to take from these times.
“Right now, we all have time in the world to reflect on life, our decisions, our goals, the people we have around us, our careers.
“Today, we see clearer skies all over the world, less animals being slaughtered for our pleasure simply because our demands are much lower and everyone staying in.
“Lets not come back the same as we went into this tough time, lets come out of it with better knowledge of our world, changing our personal choices and habits.
“Lets come out of this as a new us, a new reinvigorated you, fitter, healthier and more focused but above all, kinder, more generous and gracious and caring for our world and the people in it.
“I hope we all do. #wecandothis #together #oneworld #wewinandwelosetogether.”
