MEF Holds Meeting With Moody’s, Investors And UK Authorities

The Minister of Economy and Finance, Alex Alonso Contreras Miranda, concluded a work agenda in London to promote investment in Peru.
Today he met with the UK Trade Policy Minister, Greg Hands, to address issues of Government to Government, investment in Peru, as well as technical support from the United Kingdom for planning and best practices in the development of infrastructure projects. . At the meeting, the negotiations for a double taxation agreement were also discussed.

In addition, Minister Contreras met with Moody’s global director of sovereign risk, Marie Diron, with whom he discussed Peru’s sectoral and regional economic reactivation plan, and the country’s commitment to fiscal consolidation.

Finally, he held a working meeting with investors, to whom he explained the lines of Peru’s economic policy and the commitment to maintain a fiscally responsible policy. Representatives of ABRDN PLC, Amundi, Ashmore Investment Management, Aviva Investors, Bluebay Asset Management, Eaton Vance Corporation, Mesarete Capital LLP, PGIM and Pictet Asset Management participated in the meeting.

Economic And Investment Prospects For Peru 2023

Today’s meetings took place one day after having participated in the forum “Economic and investment prospects for Peru 2023”, where Minister Contreras was in charge of the main presentation before international investors, in which he highlighted that Peru has opportunities and challenges to face and that the goal is for the Peruvian economy to be the fastest growing in the region, supported in part by the Con Punche Peru reactivation plan.

Minister Contreras began his day in London yesterday from Davos, Switzerland, where he participated in the Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum.
Within the framework of said event, the minister met with the president of the Inter-American Development Bank, Ilan Goldfajn; with the Secretary General of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, Mathias Cormann; as well as with investors from different sectors. In Davos, the minister also participated in meetings on the future of growth, financial service strategy in Latin America, sustainable solutions in Latin America, among others.
