Stretching from the coast to the moors, dales, and beyond, North Yorkshire’s most coveted artists will be opening their studio doors to the public for the North Yorkshire Winter Open Studios this November.
Hosted by North Yorkshire Open Studios (NYOS), the Winter edition of the annual summer event offers art lovers the exclusive chance to visit artists in their studios across the region from 2-3 November from 11am to 4pm, free of charge.
Garth Bayley, artist and Project Manager for NYOS, said, “As the crisp air of November sweeps across North Yorkshire, a warm invitation beckons art lovers and curious visitors alike to step inside the studios of some of North Yorkshire’s most talented artists. The special Winter edition offers an intimate and inspiring experience that celebrates the creativity our beautiful, diverse patch of Yorkshire.
“Unlike the bustling summer open studio events, the Winter Open Studios offers a more cozy, relaxed atmosphere, perfect for those looking to enjoy a slower pace while still immersing themselves in creative beauty.”
The event provides an exclusive opportunity to not only view a wide range of art but also engage directly with the artists, explore their workspaces, and hear the stories behind their creations; it’s a chance to see the craftsmanship and passion that goes into each piece, whether it be painting, pottery, sculpture, textiles, or contemporary designs.
This year’s Winter edition will feature 97 artists, all of whom have developed loyal followings through previous NYOS events, and are scattered across central Yorkshire, as well as the dales, moors and coast.
Visitors can expect to encounter a diverse range of styles and mediums, from intricate ceramics and bold abstract paintings to finely detailed illustrations.
A full list of the artists participating in the Winter edition can be found on the NYOS website, alongside information on studio locations and highlights of the artists’ work.
This year’s Winter edition offers art lovers the chance to visit some of the most exciting and established names in Yorkshire’s art scene, as well as take in scenic parts of the region.
Garth added, “It’s also a great excuse to experience the autumnal beauty of our region. The studios themselves are often hidden gems—rural retreats, quaint outbuildings, or quirky spaces—that reflect the individuality of each artist. The Winter edition is an opportunity to not only enjoy fantastic art but to see North Yorkshire in all its seasonal glory.”
NYOS is a not-for-profit community that works to support the hundreds of artists who live and work in North Yorkshire.
With the festive season just around the corner, the Winter edition of NYOS presents an ideal opportunity for finding unique Christmas gifts.
“Visitors will have the chance to purchase directly from the artists, ensuring that any piece they choose is both unique and meaningful. Whether you’re searching for a statement piece to complete your home or a thoughtful gift for a loved one, the variety and quality of work on display will not disappoint,” enticed Garth.
