Harrow (Parliament Politics Magazine) – More than 200 shoppers queued from 4:30am for the grand opening of a new supermarket in Harrow, highlighting strong local demand and excitement.
An estimated 23 new jobs were created in the area when Iceland Foods launched its new location on Station Road in Harrow.
The store gave out £1,500 in vouchers to the first 150 customers and a complimentary platter of Ferrero Rocher to the first 200 at the register to commemorate the inauguration on November 25.
A lottery ticket was given to customers who entered the line before 7.45 a.m.; seven winners would get a Tower Air Fryer.
One fortunate customer won a Daewoo Double Drawer Air Fryer in a contest to guess how many candies were in a jar.
Kristian Barrett, group retail director at Iceland Foods, added:
“We’re thrilled to have opened our new Harrow store, ensuring more local residents can get their hands on market-leading deals, alongside a brilliant range of frozen, grocery and fresh foods.”
Five other patrons were given the opportunity to load their trolleys for free during a 90-second supermarket sweep-style trolley rush around the empty store.
In addition to special Iceland collections including Slimming World, Cathedral City, and TGI Friday’s, the new store offers multi-buy discounts like 5 for £5, 3 for £10, and 8 for £10.
The Iceland Bonus Club app has more deals.
The store will be open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday through Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
Were any temporary traffic measures put in place nearby?
There are no specific reports indicating that temporary road closures or significant business changes were put in place hard for the opening of the new Iceland supermarket in Harrow Town Centre.
The event was managed within typical civic business inflow, and no formal diversions or lane closures were intimately announced or demanded given the early opening hours and standard safety measures.
Any minor business operation likely involved standard signage or walls to grease rambler safety around the store entrance rather than formal road closures or business diversions. The opening successfully accommodated a large paperback turnout without reported major dislocations to original business.
