Redbridge (Parliament Politics Magazine) – Redbridge students mark a milestone of achievement as A-Level results reveal hard work, determination, and strong support from schools and families.
Redbridge Council acknowledged the teamwork that enabled this year’s successes and offered sincere congrats to the students, instructors, support personnel, and parents.
Councillor Kam Rai, the Redbridge Council’s leader, visited Caterham High School to commemorate the event and saw children excitedly unwrapping their results envelopes.
They included tales of extraordinary tenacity and success.
Marisa Peters is going to the University of Durham to study law after having studied philosophy, English literature, and history. Her exceptional performance, which positions her for a bright future, included an A in English literature, an A in history, and a B in philosophy.
After receiving the necessary grades, Rony Salazar, who came to the UK in 2021 seeking refuge from El Salvador, was able to obtain an apprenticeship.
During his Year 12 work experience, his voyage pleased employers, and he will shortly start working with a nearby London council.
Cllr Rai praised the students’ achievements, saying:
“Huge congratulations to students across Redbridge, who have worked incredibly hard for their results today. Everyone opening their results should feel immensely proud. Today I’ve met some wonderful young people who have overcome huge disadvantages to achieve fantastic grades. They now have exciting careers ahead of them, with the world at their feet.
I would also like to thank the borough’s schools, teaching staff, governors, and all those involved in PTA bodies for their exceptional commitment to nurturing students and preparing them for the next chapter of their lives.”
How do Redbridge’s A-Level results compare to national trends?
Redbridge’s A-Level results show a slightly lower average performance compared to the London average, indicating room for improvement within the borough. For example, previous data from 2023 showed that 16.5% of students in Redbridge achieved AAB+ grades, which is competitive but modest compared to some other London areas where top grades are higher.
In comparison, national and London trends in recent years show a record increase in top A-Level grades across the board, with around 27.9% of students nationally achieving grades of A or A*. London typically ranks higher with a greater proportion of students attaining top grades compared to the national average.
However, Redbridge results reflect strong resilience and determination by students often overcoming challenges, and local educational leaders emphasize continuous support and the importance of maintaining high-quality teaching and guidance services.
