A train operating firm that serves Greater London, East Sussex, and Kent has undertaken a WhatsApp channel offering a new method to receive travel updates. Southeastern assertions it is the UK’s first train operator to form broadcasting updates in this way.

What Are the Benefits of Receiving Train Information Through WhatsApp?

Customers can witness “up-to-the-minute” travel information on their current WhatsApp account coming directly from the Southeastern control centre in London. They can also privately transmit messages to the Southeastern control team on their WhatsApp number should they require specific advice and information. The direct messages would not be observable to other users.

How Will Southeastern’s New WhatsApp Channel Improve Travel Updates?

Southeastern’s Head of Information Delivery, John Till stated: “We are constructing a better, more reliable, and sustainable railway and a critical part of that is providing our customers with objective, timely, and easily accessible information.

“We know it can be frustrating when services are disrupted but we hope this new channel will help to describe what is happening and deliver useful advice for customers to continue on their journey. Signing up for the new WhatsApp Channel is quick and easy. The particulars are available on our website, along with all the other ways you can get our updates.”

Passengers have been informed they can also stay up to date via the app, website, social media channels, and announcements on trains and in stations.
