Stabbing near pub in London kills 26-year-old man

London (Parliament Politics Magazine) – A young man was fatally stabbed near a northeast London pub, prompting a police murder investigation.

What happened on Chingford Mount Road on Sunday night?

Around 9:15 pm on Sunday, on Chingford Mount Road, the fatal incident occurred. London’s Air Ambulance came to help, but the man could not be saved.

According to initial reports, staff at The King’s Ford Wetherspoon pub tried to help the injured man.

What did Chief Dan Card say about the Chingford stabbing?

The Metropolitan Police confirmed that the victim’s relatives have been contacted and are receiving support from trained officers.

They said,

“On Sunday, 6 July at 21:14hrs, officers on patrol were notified by members of the public of a stabbing in Chingford Mount Road, E4. Officers attended the scene and found a 26-year-old man with a stab wound.”

Official confirmed,

“No arrests have been made at this early stage and a crime scene and road closures will be in place for some time while officers investigate.”

Chief Superintendent Dan Card said,

“We are deeply saddened by the events that took place last night, and our thoughts remain with the man’s family at this hugely difficult time.”

He added,

“Detectives are working hard to establish the circumstances of what happened yesterday evening. We understand the impact this incident will have on the local community, and officers are being deployed on reassurance patrols to help answer any questions or concerns.”

London Ambulance Service’s views on the Chingford attack

The London Ambulance Service said emergency teams were alerted to a stabbing incident around 9:11 pm.

A spokesperson stated,

“We sent resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew, paramedics in fast response cars, an advanced paramedic and an incident response officer. We also dispatched a trauma team in a car from London’s Air Ambulance.”

They added,

“Very sadly, despite the best efforts of our crews, a man was pronounced dead at the scene.”

Witnesses’ views on the Chingford stabbing

One eyewitness, 28, said,

“There was panic and distress. There were people from the pub with a defibrillator trying to save the man.”

He added,

“There was a crowd forming of people from the pub, I guess, and then the police and ambulances showed up. The people from the pub were heroes. They did their best.”

Another local said the victim’s mother was nearby, and his friends rushed to tell her the heartbreaking news.

The witness added,

“One of the friends tried to resuscitate him. He was a nice guy, but was in the wrong place at the around time, I’m told. It’s just horrible. The mum is a good person.”
