London (Parliament Politics Magazine) – Civil Service trainees have been presented with classes on what Jesus and Mohammed can prepare them for becoming “confident leaders”.
How Will the Prophetic Leadership Model Enhance Trainees’ Skills?
The session, managed by the Fast Stream Muslim Network, will glance at the “leadership styles” of the Abrahamic prophets to comprehend what made them “great leaders” by understanding their “historical examples”. The class, titled: the Prophetic Leadership Model, is documented as a masterclass in the Fast Stream’s initial program developed to take place in October.
A report of the session said it would look at the unique qualities and leadership skills of the prophets and utilise this to enhance fast-streamers’ abilities to become leaders. The session is not required and was listed among other masterclasses, including sessions on wellbeing, communication and fraud syndrome.
What Is the Significance of Voluntary Sessions in Fast Stream Training?
Fast Stream Muslim Network take a peek at the leadership styles of the prophets of the Abrahamic faiths (Mohammed, Moses, Jesus and Abraham etc.), glancing at what made them great leaders and how we as Fast Streamers on a leadership-focussed system can learn from these historic examples”.
It said: “We will go via the personal qualities/key leadership talents of prophets, their character and how this shaped their administration styles but also how others about them responded to their character.
“We strive to conclude the session with an outline of how as fast streamers we can bring our whole selves to work and operate our identity as a strength to empower ourselves as leaders.”
A spokesman for the Cabinet Office stated: “This is an entirely voluntary, non-mandatory session managed by Fast Stream participants themselves. This session is not characteristic of the core Civil Service Fast Stream curriculum and incurs no additional costs.”
The Fast Stream Muslim Network, which managed the session, is different from the Civil Service Muslim Network which was stopped in March after officials were conveyed to have discussed how to move the Government to change its policy on Gaza.
The Fast Stream is the Civil Service’s accelerated apprenticeship programme for graduates seeking senior roles in the institution. The project, which takes place over three to four years, offers participants rotations across different government branches and a starting salary of £31,186. Applications have plunged in recent years. While some 64,697 applications were completed in 2020, a Telegraph investigation in March found that only 26,899 hopefuls put their names forward in 2023.
