Wandsworth (Parliament Politics Magazine) – Mayor Jeremy Ambache and Cllr Paul White joined residents to celebrate a community-led transformation of a cherished Wandsworth green space on August 6.
The resurfaced basketball and netball court has been rearranged to provide youth and sports organizations with a versatile, top-notch area for practice and play. Everyone is welcome to utilize the new outdoor gym’s free equipment, which includes pull-up bars, cross trainers, and rowing machines.
Teenagers and young adults were the target audience for these enhancements, which provide additional motivation to engage in physical activity in a welcoming, social, and safe environment.
Paul White, Cabinet Member for Environment, said:
“We’re proud to have transformed Garratt Park into a space where people can move, play and feel connected. These improvements help make healthy lifestyles easier and more enjoyable. Whether you’re here to play basketball or netball, use the gym or just enjoy the surroundings, this is a park for everyone.”
This is a part of our Wandsworth Moves Together initiative, which aims to inspire locals of all ages to increase their physical activity and take use of the various ways that our parks and public areas can promote health and wellness.
One of the twelve parks in Wandsworth to receive a Green Flag in 2025 is Earlsfield’s Garratt Park. This national honor honors well-run parks that foster community, preserve the environment, and provide first-rate amenities for everybody.
