Why Manchester is the perfect place to live as a student!

Manchester the 3rd biggest city in the U.K with a population of over half a million is well known for its industrial heritage and for being the birthplace of legendary musicians such as Oasis and The Smiths. It is also a great place to be a student!

It is not surprising that there are over 100,000 students in Manchester as it is home to some well-known universities including The University of Manchester, The Manchester Metropolitan University, and the Royal Northern College of Music. There are several other Universities in the Greater Manchester region such as The University of Salford and The University of Bolton. This means the city is always teeming with students.

This bustling metropolis offers a diverse range of activities and places to visit that are affordable and cater to students. You can easily find accommodation to suit every pocket, from halls of residence to shared housing at a fraction of the prices you would pay in London.

‘’The curry Mile’’ in Rusholme, Wilmslow which hosts the largest number of Asian restaurants outside of the Asian continent is a nod to the culinary delights of its large Asian population. There you can find amazing South-Asian and Middle Eastern food including curries and kebabs at very affordable prices.

Manchester has a vibrant and diverse music scene with concerts and festivals at venues like Albert Hall the rather incongruously named Deaf institute and even the legendary Manchester Arena all year round.  Parklife is one such festival that attracts thousands of students every year.  Additionally, there are a lot of alternative and quirky bars favored by students in The Northern Quarter located in the city center which boasts amazing street art and culture.

Public transport is frequent, affordable, and accessible. It includes a wide network of buses and a very convenient tram system ideal for students on a budget. Exploring the city is easy and hassle-free.

All around, Manchester is a great city for students. It offers nightlife, amazing music venues, affordable food, and most importantly thousands of other students to socialize with!
