Woman found dead after attempted break-in at Hammersmith flat

Hammersmith And Fulham (Parliament Politics Magazine) – A murder investigation is underway in Hammersmith, after a 36 year-old woman was found dead in her Coulter Road flat following a forced entry attempt.

Police were called to a residence on Coulter Road at 10:13pm after receiving complaints that a man was trying to break into one of the apartments.

The officers arrived and entered the property, they found a 36-year-old lady who had passed away from what they suspect to have been a head injury.

At the site, a 38-year-old male was taken into jail on suspicion of murder.

Police are awaiting official identification of the woman and have not yet notified her next of kin.

In “due course,” a post-mortem examination will be conducted.

Detective Chief Inspector Ollie Stride, who is leading the investigation, said:

“We are saddened to hear about the loss of this young woman and are working to ensure that her family are informed and supported by specialist officers as soon as possible.

I understand the impact this incident will have had on neighbours and the community and we are doing everything we can to investigate the circumstances.

Although we have made an arrest, we still need to have an understanding of what took place last night in Coulter Road.”

Violence and sexual offenses accounted for 6,126 of these offenses in 2023.
