Stanislav Carpiuc, a Romanian citizen, faces charges of conspiracy with Roman Lavrynovych, 21, and unidentified individuals. They are alleged to have planned arson to damage property and put others’ lives at risk through reckless actions.
A 26-year-old man from Romford was taken into custody at London Luton Airport last Saturday. He will face Westminster Magistrates’ Court later today.

Authorities have linked the charges to three separate fire incidents across North London.
These include a vehicle fire in the NW5 area on May 8, a fire at a property entrance in N7 on May 11, and a house fire in NW5 in the early hours of May 12.

On 8 May, in the early morning, a vehicle connected with the prime minister was ignited in the very street.
On 11 May, early in the morning, a small fire broke out at the front door of a house turned into flats in Islington. This building is linked to Sir Keir Starmer.

After the fire attacks, shadow justice secretary Robert Jenrick stated that it is
“important that the prime minister and anyone in public life has their family, their homes, protected.”
He said,
“We have robust disagreements in politics, but I want to ensure anyone who chooses to go into public life feels that they’ll be properly protected and that we have civility in our debate.”
Crown Prosecution Service’s views on the arson charges
The chair of the Crown Prosecution Service counter-terrorism division, Bethan David, stated,
“These charges relate to two fires at residential addresses in Islington on Sunday, May 11 and in Kentish Town on Monday, May 12, as well as a car fire in Kentish Town on Thursday, May 8.”
He added, “The Crown Prosecution Service reminds all concerned that criminal proceedings against this defendant are now active and that he has the right to a fair trial.”

The home secretary, Yvette Cooper, said she had received details about the suspected arson attacks. When asked about the fire incidents she stated,
“You are right that the police are investigating these incidents, and they have my full support in doing so.”
She added,
“I have been briefed about these incidents but you will understand, as home secretary I obviously cannot comment in any detail on the investigations that are ongoing.”
