Hackney Year 6 pupils top 2025 KS2 SATs in England

Hackney (Parliament Politics Magazine) – Hackney’s Year 6 pupils have delivered outstanding 2025 KS2 SATs results, placing the borough joint first in England in provisional rankings.

According to recently published data from the Department for Education, 76 percent of Hackney students achieved the required level in arithmetic, reading, and writing. This remarkable accomplishment is 13 percentage points higher than the 62% national average.

Double the national average of 8%, 16 percent of Hackney students met the higher criterion.

Results for individual subjects further demonstrate the students’ excellent performance:

  • Reading: 42% achieved the higher standard and 83% achieved the expected standard (compared to 33% and 75% at the national level, respectively);
  • Writing: 26% and 82%, respectively, met the higher and expected standards (compared to 72% and 13% at the national level).
  • In mathematics, 31% and 82%, respectively, met the higher and expected standards (compared to 74% and 26% at the national level).

Which Hackney primary schools have made the largest impact to the top KS2 Rank?

The schools had particularly high outcomes with approximately 85% of Year 6 pupils meeting the combined reading writing and maths (RWM) expected standard, which is well above the national averages.

They also had good outcomes with 73% of the pupils meeting the expected RWM standard which reflect excellent outcomes.

Other schools in Hackney collectively represented 76%, percentage of pupils met the combined expected standard, which was above the national average of approximately 62%.

The success of these schools has been the result of targeted interventions, strong leadership, high quality teaching and the support of the community and parents, all of which are the foundations of Hackney’s exceptional educational achievement.
