Southwark (Parliament Politics Magazine) – The Elephant Market has moved to Castle Square, Southwark, open weekends with 20+ traders offering food, crafts, and jewellery like The Hatton and Fabs Ceramics.

As Southwark News reported, the Elephant Market is now open every Saturday and Sunday from 12 PM to 5 PM at Castle Square in Southwark. The market takes place among a range of independent shops and businesses. Visitors can find items for every taste and interest. The market provides a space for small businesses to showcase their products.

What makes the Elephant Market’s move to Castle Square a win for Southwark?

Traders at the market include The Hatton, a jewellery brand founded by Central St Martin’s graduates, offering modern and stylish pieces. Amber Hue, a family-run business, sells hand-poured scented candles. Food options include The Frenchie, known for its duck burgers, and Boss Biltong, which sells premium beef biltong.

The Elephant Market has been described as “an important step in the area’s regeneration.” Caribbean restaurants such as Original Caribbean Spice and Kaieteur Kitchen are already established there. The market adds more options of food, including Borough Cheese Company, French artisan bakery Bread and Macaroon, fresh oysters from Rocks Oysters, and duck burgers by The Frenchie.

Fabiola Ladino, owner of Colombian ceramics Fabs Ceramics, said:

“It was really nice, the change, because it makes me feel more protected at that site. There were a lot of new people around, and my old customers were looking for me and saw me there. “The new location outside the station is very strategic for us. Once they open the shopping centre, can you imagine all the people who are going to be there?”

The market also features a wide range of handmade crafts. Fabs Ceramics brings Colombian-inspired pottery to Castle Square. Kiln Jewels offers handmade fused glass and jewellery.

Elephant Market opened its doors on 12 October 2024, at Elephant Park in Elephant & Castle, London. The market was run by Real Food Markets and supported by Get Living, and was open at the same time every Saturday and Sunday, 12 PM – 5 PM, showcasing over 20 independent traders selling a range of food, craft, and street food. The market’s last day at Elephant Park was 13 September 2025, when the Elephant Market moved to Castle Square, opposite the Elephant & Castle Station.
