Southwark (Parliament Politics Magazine) – An artisan chocolate shop and café has opened its first London branch in Dulwich, offering handcrafted treats and expanding its growing brand presence.

Chococo, located at 7 Croxted Road in Southwark, offers a variety of delights, including baked products, ice cream, hot chocolate, and handmade chocolates.

The shop and cafe are located on the ground floor, and the basement can be rented out for birthday celebrations and private tastings.

Claire Burnet, co-founder and brand owner of Chococo, said:

“We’re thrilled to open our first London store in Dulwich. We are joining a wonderful local community of independent retailers who have been very welcoming.

Our mission remains unchanged since we founded Chococo back in 2002: to craft a range of exceptional chocolate-inspired products and experiences that  are ‘choc full of soul’ – bringing  joy, respecting people and the planet, and celebrating the very best of sustainable British creativity.”

Local MP Helen Hayes was at the opening of the new shop on Saturday 6 December and said:

“I am delighted to welcome Chococo to West Dulwich and I wish Claire and her team every success.

It was wonderful to see so many local residents visiting the shop and café and to sample the delicious chocolates on offer. Chococo is a fantastic addition to the brilliant community of small independent businesses in West Dulwich.”

The chocolate company has previously opened five locations in the UK, but its first London outlet will be in Dulwich.

In 2002, Claire and Andy Burnet established Chococo in Swanage, Dorset. In the UK, they currently operate five locations in Swanage, Winchester, Exeter, Horsham, and recently Dulwich.

The company uses plastic-free packaging and ethically sourced materials in their sustainable chocolate production.

Does the Dulwich branch offer sit in and takeaway options?

The Dulwich branch of Chococo offers both sit- in café seating and takeaway options. As a devoted chocolate house and café, it provides space for guests to enjoy hot drinks, gelato, galettes and treats on- point alongside heist- and- go purchases for its handwrought chocolates.

The venue includes inner seating for relaxed visits, with a menu of lately prepared particulars like coffee and deserts, mirroring Chococo’s Dorset model where cafés round retail. The new outlet marks Chococo’s fifth chocolate house overall, bringing its handcrafted, award- winning treats including single- origin bars, seasonal flavours and gelato to South London after times of online and Dorset store success.

Chocolates, bars and seasonal gifts are available for takeaway or online-style collection, supporting both impulse buys and planned orders in its first London expansion.

As a recent opening emphasizing its café and retail experience, Chococo prioritizes in- store sit- heft and takeaway, with no rosters on major delivery platforms for the West Dulwich point. The brand’s Dorset locales also stick to direct deals, but expansion could add app partnerships latterly; for now, guests visit for fresh treats or use the website for civil postage.
