Ealing (Parliament Politics Magazine) – Ealing Broadway launches a Christmas campaign with two local charities after research shows over Londoners experience loneliness during the festive season.
According to a check conducted in collaboration with the Mental Health Foundation, 51% of Londoners reported feeling lonely around Christmas, and 25% predicted feeling further alone this time than the former. Also, 38% of repliers stated they would not feel safe confiding in someone they trusted, and 46% said they would not know where to turn for backing when passing loneliness or insulation.
Although loneliness is constantly linked to the elderly, the study showed that young people were also impacted, with 36% of London’s 18–24-year- old prognosticating further loneliness this Christmas.
Also, the study found that penalty (23%), distance from family and friends (36%), and fiscal strains (46%) were major causes of disposition, while 28% of repliers claimed social media made them feel insulated during the vacation season.
In response, Ealing Broadway is uniting with the Young Ealing Foundation, which collaborates with neighborhood associations to offer openings and support for children and youthful people, and Age UK Ealing, which helps aged people live singly and stay involved in the community.
For an alternate time, the center has brought back its” Merry Mailbox” program. Age UK Ealing will give vulnerable community members with hundreds of Christmas cards created by original kiddies. Visitors can pick up a complimentary card at Ealing Central Library until Wednesday, December 10, 2025, and use it to shoot a communication to an original who might be lonely.
Reginald Parkinson, chief executive of Age UK Ealing, said:
“Loneliness is an issue that affects many older people in our borough and we see first-hand the impact it can have. The support from Ealing Broadway and the Merry Mailbox initiative helps us reach those who may be struggling and provides a meaningful reminder that the community cares.”
Additionally, Ealing Broadway will have a Christmas party for young people funded by the Young Ealing Foundation at Comptoir Libanais. The manager of the organization’s young voice projects, Rahma Hussein, stated:
“It’s really sad to see that people across generations struggle with loneliness and feelings of isolation during the holidays and the lack of confidence they have in confiding with someone they trust.”
Ms Hussein added:
“Through this campaign, we hope to bring not only festive cheer, but display our commitment to bringing communities across Ealing together, regardless of their background. We hope that this campaign sparks joy and cheer for all involved and leads to an ongoing commitment to addressing issues of social isolation.”
