UK (Parliament Politics Magazine) – Nigel Farage’s Reform UK tops the Techne UK poll with 26% support, driven by voters aged 45+, leaving Labour and the Tories trailing behind in the latest survey.

Mr Farage’s party leads in the latest survey for the first time this week, reflecting a growing generational shift in British politics.

What did the Techne survey reveal about Refrom UK, Labour and Tories?

In the latest Techne poll, Reform UK has gained 1%, securing 26%, while Labour is second at 25%, a 1% drop. The Tories remain steady at 22%, with the Liberal Democrats at 12% and the Greens at 7%.

Mr Farage’s Reform UK is growing among those over 45, with the Tories losing ground. In the 45-54 age group, Reform tops with 25%, Labour is at 24%, and the Tories lag at 22%.

In the 55-64 age group, Nigel Farage‘s party takes the lead with 29%, leaving Labour and Conservatives at 23%. Among pensioners aged 65 and above, Reform secures 32%, with the Tories following at 26% and Labour significantly lower at 18%.

While Reform struggles to secure the support of voters below 45, Labour holds a clear advantage in these younger age groups.

The latest poll shows a generational shift, with Generation X and Baby Boomers backing one side, while Millennials and Generation Z supporting another.

Labour dominates among voters aged 35 to 44 with 29%, leaving the Tories and Reform both at 21%. In the 18 to 34 age group, Labour holds a commanding 36%, with Reform at 20% and the Tories trailing at 17%.

The trend indicates Reform appears to be drawing more support from those voters who are typically homeowners or those with stable jobs with pension benefits.

Although reports claim that Reform was appealing to younger voters, Mr Farage’s message is struggling to win over those in “generation rent”, the under-45s facing lower job security and favouring Labour.

Electoral Calculus, a political forecasting website, suggests that Reform UK would become the largest party in a general election, securing 199 seats. Labour would hold 183, while the Conservatives would trail at 145.

  • Labour: 25% (-1)
  • Conservatives: 22% (=)
  • Lib Dems: 12% (=)
  • Reform UK: 26% (+1)
  • Greens: 7% (-1)
  • SNP: 23% (+1)

What did Techne’s CEO say about Reform UK’s surge in polls?

Techne’s chief executive, Michaela Morizzo, claimed the survey of 1,639 voters this week revealed the poor performance of Kemi Badenoch’s party and the surge of Reform UK.

She stated,

“Our regular tracker poll tonight delivers hugely significant political news across Westminster and far beyond. For the first time ever in our weekly polling snapshot of the UK voting intention, our research findings give Nigel Farage’s Reform its very first overall lead.”

Ms Morizzo added,

“With the Conservatives staying stationary at 22 per cent of national vote share, Kemi Badenoch’s party continues to very much struggle when compared to Reform UK and Labour.”

Referring to Nigel Farage’s party leads, Techne’s CEO said,

“Significantly this poll lead for Reform UK is not surprising, because it is clear from the data-picture that the Conservatives are facing a deep crisis. And where does this crisis come from? The public opinion is very cold towards the party but internal reasons play an important role for sure.”

She continued,

“At the same time, we have to consider how difficult is for any political party fighting against a surging positive wave as the one of Reform.”

What did the YouGov poll reveal about the Reform UK party?

Earlier this month, Nigel Farage’s party topped the Sky News/YouGov survey, marking a significant shift in British politics. Reform UK now stands at 25%, with Labour trailing at 24% and the Tories at 21%.

The YouGov poll also reveals that Kemi Badenoch’s favourability has fallen behind Reform leader Nigel Farage. While Badenoch’s rating declined from -25 last month to -29 this month, Farage’s rating improved, rising from -32 to -27.
