Technology (Parliament Politics Magazine) – Snapchat announced the rollout of its end-of-year Recaps, allowing users to revisit key moments, trends, and memories from their activity throughout 2025.
The Recap is a little film that provides a customized look at the best moments from Snaps, Stories, and Chats, demonstrating how users interacted and expressed themselves throughout the course of the year.
By launching the app and going to the “Memories” area, users can view their Recap. A “Your 2025 Snap Recap” card will be displayed there.
The action coincides with the release of end-of-year summaries by businesses like Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, and Duolingo.
Snapchat provided data about the usage of the social media app throughout the previous year in addition to the Recaps. For instance, the business claims that phone calls are still relevant, pointing out that consumers spoke for an average of roughly 1.7 billion minutes every day nearly 30% more than the previous year.
As seen by the fact that the amount of messages sent to group conversations increased by more than 5% in 2025 and that some users sent more than 8,880 messages to their top group chat this year, group chats are still a popular way to connect on Snapchat.
Additionally, the business disclosed that Chat Reactions increased by 44% this year, with the most popular emoji being the heart. This year, three million more people utilized stickers for communication.
The release of Snap’s 2025 Recap coincides with user outcry over the business’s intentions to impose storage fees the next year; some have called for a boycott in an effort to persuade the firm to reconsider. In September, Snapchat declared that Memories would only be available for free up to 5GB.
A user will need to sign up for one of the new Memories Storage plans offered by the service if their memories surpass this cap.
For $1.99 a month, the beginning storage plan provides up to 100GB of storage. Up to 250GB of storage is included in the $3.99 monthly subscription for Snapchat+ users, while 5TB is included in the $15.99 monthly subscription for Snapchat Platinum users.
