Southwark (Parliament Politics Magazine) – TOAD Bakery in Camberwell, Southwark, is one of six London bakeries selected as a finalist in the National Bakery Awards this November.

Alongside 228 other candidates from across the United Kingdom is the well-known independent bakery located on Peckham Road in Southwark

The Harrods bakery in Knightsbridge and Milk Run in Tooting are two more London candidates.

Following many pop- ups, TOAD,  innovated by Rebecca Spaven and Oliver Costello, launched in 2022.

Specialties include fresh breads, cakes, pastries, sandwiches, and filter coffee.

They were  impelled to brand from Frog to TOAD in July 2022 due to a legal challenge by Adam Handling,  owner of the Covent Garden Michelin- starred  eatery.

The National Bakery Awards presentation, organized by Bakery Business magazine, will gather all the nominees at a celebratory evening on 25 November at Big Penny Social in London.

Outstanding Contribution to Bakery, Young Baker of the Year, Social Enterprise Bakery of the Year, and the overall prize, National Bakery of the Year, will also be awarded in the evening.

What local press coverage exists about TOAD’s nomination?

There appears to be no specific original press content or recent newspapers directly mentioning TOAD Bakery’s nomination as a finalist in the National Bakery Awards. The public information about TOAD’s nomination  substantially comes from the National Bakery Awards  adverts and general food assiduity content rather than localized press reports in Camberwell or south London.

Most mentions of TOAD Bakery in the original media focus on its character, quality immolations, and community presence, but their National Bakery Awards nomination is primarily  stressed in technical food and baking assistance channels rather than original news outlets at this time.

The National Bakery Awards  form will be held on November 25, 2025. The event will cap  the National Bakery of the Year alongside county and indigenous winners, as well as award  orders like Social Enterprise Bakery of the Year and Young Baker of the Time.
